1. What is 23 Things?

23 Things is a “discovery” programme which gives you the chance each week, over 16 weeks, to explore a new Web 2.0 technology and to record your impressions and ideas in your own personal blog.

Originally created in the US by the Charlotte and Mecklenburg County public library service, the programme has since been adopted and adapted by many more library services in the US and the UK.

Take a look at the 23 Things blogs at the following UK universities:

2. Who can take part in 23 Things?

23 Things is open to all ISLS staff at the University of Westminster

3. What support is there for the 23 Things programme?

Everyone in ISLS who participates can dedicate up to an hour and a half per week to 23 Things. This is a self directed programme and we hope that you will discuss what you are finding out with colleagues and that this sharing will act as a local support network. In addition a number of people across the service have volunteered to act as 23 Things buddies.

These are:

  • Debbie Shomoye (CAV)
  • Elaine Salter (REG)
  • Ellie Murphy (MRD/HRW)
  • Emma Woods (MRD/CAV)
  • Fiona O’Brien (HRW/CAV)
  • James Thickins (HRW)

If you find you need more formal help, please let us know.

4. Can I take part if I am not a member of ISLS?

Yes, you can sign up and receive notification of the tasks, but you will not be eligible for the book tokens or prize draw on completion
